The Boonies: a term coined by United States soldiers in the Philippines from the native "Bondoc", meaning mountain. Boonie Foods pays homage to Chef Joseph Fontelera's Lola (grandmother) who's maiden name is Bondoc, and the many stories she and the others hailing from the bondoc carried with them from the Philippines.
